Colombia, due to its privileged location in the Neotropics and variety of ecosystems, has a vast diversity of animal and plant life. The amphibian group (consisting of salamanders, caecilians and frogs) in particular has a total of 881 species, making Colombia the second richest country in terms of amphibian diversity.

On the other hand, ecosystems such as tropical rainforests and very humid forests, such as those that predominate in the Chocó biogeographic region, favour the pre-existence of a wide variety of amphibians, making this region an area of particular interest for the study and conservation of species in this group.
Specifically, the Pacific Botanical Garden is home to a total of 39 species of amphibians, of which three are salamanders, two are caecilians and 34 are frogs, making the reserve one of the most diverse places in Chocó in terms of this group.

The JBDP is home to several species of charismatic groups such as glass frogs (Centrolenidae family), which can be found along the various streams that run through the reserve.
Among the amphibians inhabiting the JBP are species of interest such as Oophaga solanensis (Bahía Solano dart frog), Phyllobates aurotaenia (yellow-banded poison frog), Silverstoneia punctiventris (spotted-bellied rocket frog), Colostethus imbricolus (Silverstone's rocket frog) and Atelopus spurrelli (Condoto harlequin frog), which are especially important due to their threatened status and/or restricted distribution.
